A Coordination meeting took place in Nazareth on February 22nd, 2007. The meeting was conducted between representatives of several Palestinian civil organizations from both sides of the green line. Both the “Civic Coalition for Defending the Palestinians’ Rights in Jerusalem”, and Ittijah – the “Union of Arab Community Based Associations” organized the meeting. Among the issues discussed were the preparations for three important anniversaries; the 40th anniversary of the Israeli occupation to the West Bank and Gaza, the 60th anniversary of the 1948 Nakbah and the preparation for the major event that will take place in 2009 after the declaration of Jerusalem as the Arab Capital of Culture for 2009. The declaration is a joint program between UNESCO and the Arab League.
