Local Integrity System (LIS) of Local Government

Enhancing the integrity, transparency and accountability of Local Government was the focus of workshop held in Berlin on 21-23 April 2013. The workshop was organized by the Transparency International Secretariat (TI), under its current programme “Public Sector Integrity”, with the purpose of exploring solutions for local government Integrity. 12 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East has participated, The Arab Thought Forum representing AMAN Coalition was among the participates. The goal of the program is to enhance the integrity, transparency and accountability of local government through the experiences of various National TI Chapters in the area of local councils. While the aim of the workshop is to enable the participants to get a good understanding of the different experiences, how it affects local government integrity and to be able to assess whether it is an activity that can be replicated by other Chapters. The third day of the workshop was devoted to discuss the Local Integrity System (LIS) Assessment Tool and the feasibility of applying it in different countries.
