Supporting Palestinian consensus building, electoral reform and democratic governance

● The ATF and the Carter Center has concluded the agreement on new initiative aiming at supporting Palestinian consensus building and enhance the consensus on electoral reform and democratic governance. The new initiative is supported by the UNDP; the new program will extend for 18 month starting from October 2010, with the following objectives:

1. Review outstanding questions of electoral reform which have been identified but remain unresolved,
2. Assess the wider political environment for further intervention or recommendations.
3. Identify issues concerning the protection of political rights and fundamental freedoms necessary for democratic governance,
4. Assess the wider political environment for further intervention or recommendations.
