Dr. Abbas Abdul Haq Chairman of the bard represented the Arab Thought Forum at the 13th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC), held in Athens, Greece from 30 October to 2 November 2008 under the banner "Global Transparency: fighting corruption for a sustainable Future". More than 1300 people, from 135 countries and from the private, public and non-profit sectors, practitioners and experts on sustainability, governance, and transparency participated to discuss the role of corruption and governance in the crucial questions that will make or break a sustainable future. The IACC is the premier forum engaging representatives of civil society, government and business from around the world in spirited and frank debates to find effective solutions for tackling corruption and limit its pervasive impact on peoplesí lives, particularly on the most vulnerable. Issues discussed includes: Human security, climate change, compromised livelihoods and energy security.
